Smith, Associate Professor in the Department of English, is Queensborough’s Inaugural Faculty Fellow for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. A founding member of the Black Faculty and Staff Association, Dr. Smith served on the Faculty Diversity Committee and now serves on the CUNY Diversity Incubator. Dr. Smith often features in local media and was a recipient of Caribbean Life’s 40 Under 40 Award. A contributor to Teaching Race in Perilous Times (SUNY Press 2021), Dr. Smith talks about the challenges of teaching race and more.
